Nearly a decade ago, Eden participants began working at MultiSports Kingdom Monroe. The partnership was so successful that they now work at three MultiSports Kingdom locations: Monroe, Marlboro, and Manalapan.
“From the success of that first partnership, what they were doing on the job, and the job coaches supporting them, they were able to branch out to all three locations,” said Brooks Sanders, Eden’s Manager of Employment Services. “They saw the value in their work and their dedication to their work.”
Alongside a job coach, the participants work throughout the sports complex to make sure it is clean and tidy. Cleaning windows and bathrooms, dust-mopping floors, picking up the parking lot, replenishing supplies, and completing other custodial tasks are all part of the daily responsibilities for several Eden participants.
“They clean anything and everything we ask them to do,” said Margie Blank, CEO of MultiSports Kingdom. “Having Eden here is great because they’re supplementing what the other two cleaning companies can’t get to.”
Margie believes it is important to hire individuals with disabilities because they deserve to be part of their community. “Everyone needs a purpose when they wake up; they need a routine. They need to feel a part of society and be included in society,” she said.
Eden participants are a true part of the MultiSports Kingdom team. They say hello to their colleagues, take pride in their work, and look forward to going to work each day.
Margie hopes that more businesses will hire people with disabilities. “Determine what you need versus what Eden can offer,” she said. “Every company can benefit from it in so many ways.”
