FAQs
What are the requirements to work at Eden? Do I need prior experience working with individuals with autism?
For teaching and direct support positions, a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with 5 points or less, and 3+ years of driving experience are required.
While prior autism experience is not a requirement, due to the high-level needs of the individuals we serve (students and adults with autism), familiarity with autism, developmental disabilities, and/or behavioral challenges is preferred.
We have an excellent training program and welcome all types of work experience unless otherwise noted in the job posting.
Where are the Eden programs located?
Eden has several locations throughout Mercer County and one location in Middlesex County. The Eden School is in Princeton; the Adult Services programs (day centers and group homes) are located in Cranbury, East Windsor, Ewing, Hamilton, Lawrenceville, Plainsboro, West Windsor, and Robbinsville.
What work schedules do you have available?
Eden offers a variety of schedules, depending on the position you are applying for, including day shifts, rotating shifts (with and without overnight shifts), and weekend shifts.
What is the hiring process?
After applying online through Eden’s job portal, you will be contacted by an Eden recruiter who will conduct an initial phone screen. You will be asked about your work experience and skills, and we will provide a brief overview of the position and its requirements. This may also occur via a Virtual Interview Session, depending on the position.
If you qualify to move forward, you will then be scheduled for an in-person interview and observation with the hiring manager, where you will learn more about the position and daily expectations. You will have a chance to talk in more detail about the job and ask questions, as well as get a feel for the program in which you would be working and the staff you would be working with.
Upon completion of all interviews, the team and HR will determine the next steps and if you will receive a job offer. Typically, a verbal offer is made by the recruiter or HR representative, followed by a written offer via email.
What is the onboarding process if I’m made a job offer?
Once you sign the written offer, you’ll complete a series of required pre-employment items including criminal background check, physical exam/Mantoux, drug screening, and more. An HR representative will send you an email with everything you need to complete these steps, along with additional required paperwork.
The next step is new hire/entry-level training to ensure you have the necessary information to start your job successfully. You’ll learn more about Eden, our Core Values and policies, as well as other training that’s important to your role, such as Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training and CPR certification. Training for teaching/direct care staff is 6-10 days and is fully paid.
