Each day is a little different at Bendas and Clayton Centers. Some participants go to work, while others head to volunteer placements or community outings. Some individuals spend their mornings doing arts and crafts projects, as others enjoy helping staff tidy up.

Over 70 men and women spend their weekdays at Bendas and Clayton Centers, the two centers housed inside the Old Trenton Road building. In the mornings, participants get settled and check their schedule or chat with staff to learn what they will be doing that day. Most of the individuals at these centers spend their days working or volunteering.

For those who spend their day, or part of their day, at the center, there is plenty to keep them busy. Individuals work on daily living and vocational skills, including cooking and meal preparation, personal hygiene, and health and fitness.

Staff also organized arts and crafts projects, group sports games, dance and karaoke parties, and other activities to keep participants engaged while having fun.
This year, a new staff member organizes and leads a new activity each week. These activities are designed to keep participants engaged with their peers as they continue to work on skills that can be applied outside the center.
Direct Support Professional Margaret Smith recently helped participants bake cookies for her activity. They rolled, shaped, and decorated sugar cookies in the morning, and then enjoyed their homemade treats as an afternoon snack!
