Eden Autism was honored to host rotating teams of professionals from the National Autism and Developmental Centers in South Korea.

Visitors from the hospital-based consortium, operating under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, are expanding the number of centers throughout South Korea. The main site of the consortium is in Seoul National University Hospital, and other sites are opening throughout the country.  They came to Eden to learn about the provision of ABA services in the United States to assist with their expansion.

Over four weeks, 21 practitioners and therapists toured Eden’s Schalks Crossing Day Center, one of the first centers in the state specifically designed for aging adults with autism, and two Eden residences to see firsthand how community-based autism services operate.

“It is a privilege to share our expertise in autism services with professionals from South Korea,” said Eden Autism President & CEO Michael Decker.

Visitors met the individuals supported by Eden, spoke with staff about how services are provided, and learned about Eden’s 50-year history. The tours were focused on our Adult Services programs, where Eden staff shared information on how we open residences, how homes are funded and furnished, the planning and purpose of day center activities, and several other program details.

The tours were organized in partnership with ABA faculty colleagues at Rutgers University.

“It was an honor to host our colleagues from Korea and to share insights and expertise to enhance, broaden, and improve services for the global autism community,” said Lisa Toole, Director of Adult Clinical Services.
