Improving the lives of people with autism — one individual at a time, one family at a time, one community at a time.

When Travis clocks in for his shift at TJ Maxx, he When Travis clocks in for his shift at TJ Maxx, he gets right to work. He knows where everything is in the back, what needs to be sorted, and what needs to be brought out to the shoe displays.

Travis has become such a reliable employee that he works 5 days a week. The store depends on him to keep the shoe department running efficiently. For Travis’s mom, Missy, hearing that her son is not only working but helping to run the department is extraordinary.

“I never would have thought that he would be able to maintain a job at a retail place like TJ Maxx, and now he’s doing such a remarkable job there,” said Missy. “I can tell he’s very happy there.”

Travis has been at Eden Autism since he was 21 months old, first joining the early intervention at Wawa House. He graduated from the Eden School, joined the Adult Services Day program, began working, and moved into an Eden residence.

“It’s wonderful. I can’t put into words how privileged and honored we are to know our son is so well loved,” said Missy.
Each day is a little different at Bendas and Clayt Each day is a little different at Bendas and Clayton Centers. Some participants go to work, while others head to volunteer placements or community outings. Some individuals spend their mornings doing arts and crafts projects, as others enjoy helping staff tidy up.

Over 70 men and women spend their weekdays at Bendas and Clayton Centers, the two centers housed inside the Old Trenton Road building. There is plenty to keep them busy.

Individuals work on daily living and vocational skills, including cooking and meal preparation, personal hygiene, and health and fitness. Staff also organize arts and crafts projects, group sports games, dance and karaoke parties, and other activities to keep participants engaged while having fun.
When Quintin Robin first started working at the Ed When Quintin Robin first started working at the Eden Residential Summer Camp in 2014, he wasn’t sure what he signed up for. He had never worked with children before, but by the end of the summer, he already couldn’t wait to come back the following year.

He still fondly remembers his first student, who is now in the Adult Services program. He made a joke to Quintin over breakfast that still makes him laugh to this day.

“It was the first time I saw his personality come through. I saw an actual person there, not just someone with a disability,” said Quintin. “Everything clicked. I’m getting to know this kid. He’s starting to trust me. He’s relying on me for certain things, and over the next two weeks, we just had fun together.”

Over a decade later, Quintin is now the Special Programs Manager at the Eden School. He works with the older students, preparing them and their families for their transition to adulthood. And in the summers, he can be found running and overseeing the camp program.

“It’s absolutely worth all the hard days when you see how far your kids can go and how much they can accomplish," he said.

At the Old Trenton Road Day (OTR) Center, men and At the Old Trenton Road Day (OTR) Center, men and women in Eden’s Adult Day Services program continue to develop essential skills that pave the way for future employment and deeper community engagement.

The OTR Center, located in West Windsor, will undergo significant renovations to expand and update the facility and improve the experience of the adults who attend the day program at this location. In addition, 5,000 square feet of currently inaccessible space will be built out to accommodate the growth that comes with our Eden School graduates.

Thank you to all of the Friends of Eden who are making dreams like Mike's new windows a reality!
