Improving the lives of people with autism — one individual at a time, one family at a time, one community at a time.

Eden Autism is thrilled to announce that Antonio i Eden Autism is thrilled to announce that Antonio is the recipient of the 2025 NJACP STARS Award!

Antonio has been with the Eden Autism adult program since 1997. His success at his job, Miele, where he works five days a week, is what made him a perfect candidate for this award.

Antonio spends his time setting up special events that Miele will host. Antonio will set up the tables, chairs, linens, and table settings, which require keen attention to detail. He will also prepare appetizers for these events and assist with any cleanup afterward.

Antonio currently lives at one of Eden’s supervised apartments. While at home, he enjoys trips out in the community. Antonio is also a yearly athlete in the Special Olympics, where he participates in cross-country skiing and bowling.

Antonio is an inspiration to all of us at Eden Autism, and we are proud to call him our STAR!

For the past several years, West Windsor Arts has been providing visual art experiences for the adults in Eden's program. Through the guidance of West Windsor Arts Teaching Artists, Audrey Jakab and Yuka Takushima, participants are able to engage in the arts using adaptive and accessible means.

Eden’s curriculum of community integration allows the adults we support to experience opportunities for learning and engaging with peers on a daily basis. Students from this group travel to the arts center several times a month to participate in visual arts activities.

Congratulations to all of this year's artists!

Gus has excelled at all of his reading programs, quickly going through his materials. He does a great job of taking inventory and filling order forms, making him ready for a job at the school store.

Johnny excels at doing several tasks independently, including stocking shelves and merchandise. He loves to see a job through from the start to the finish.

Maddie has been working very hard on improving her communication skills. She thrives in group activities. She also loves going out in the community for shopping and field trips.

Manoah loves to be in the kitchen helping with lunch prep. He is a very good communicator and does a very nice job communicating with his iPad.

“As we look back today on the journey our students have taken — a journey that may have started out with hesitant, tentative steps — we see just how far our young ladies and young men have progressed,” said Chief Program Officer Dr. Rachel Tait. “It has been an honor and a privilege being part of their journey and watching each one of our students continue to grow and develop new skills each and every day."

"I have a strong desire to support our participants in achieving their goals and improving their lives. I believe that as a CJC, I will have a significant impact on our participants’ lives, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their goals."

"In my view, I think employment provides increased independence, allowing participants to make choices and decisions. Participants gain confidence and self-esteem and develop a sense of belonging. Employment also gives the participants the opportunity to socially interact with their co-workers and peers. Employment helps them to feel connected to the community in which they live."
