Wall of Honor recognizes individuals with lifelong commitment to Eden Autism

Three members of the Eden community were honored during Saturday’s Membership Meeting for their lifelong commitment to Eden Autism.

Founding parent Jean Ramsey, founding staff member Carol Markowitz, and former trustee Bob Humes were the first inductees to Eden’s Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor, located in the lobby of the Eden School, is meant to recognize individuals who have gone “above and beyond” in their support of our Eden family.

The wall serves as a reminder that our continued growth and strength is thanks to the dedication of parents, staff, and community members who give their expertise and passion to Eden’s mission.

Jean Ramsey is one of our founding parents who helped launch Eden Autism in 1975. Forty-five years later, and Jean is still engaged in advocacy, the important work of sharing information and building relationships, and ensuring the future of Eden.

One of her fellow parents summed it up best in her nomination: “Jean is one of the founding families [and] works tirelessly to help propel Eden into the future. I think of the Eden spirit as, ‘caring, concern, respect’ for our young men, women, and parents alike. Jean more than exudes this.”

Carol Markowitz was one of Eden’s founding staff members, serving as a teacher, program supervisor, and Director of Education, and Chief Program Officer.

Now retired after a lifetime of contributions to so many of our children and families, Carol’s influence as a clinician and administrator runs deep throughout Eden. At every stage of growth, from the school program to our latest focus on the needs of those aging with autism, Carol has been a leader in the charge.

Bob Humes served Eden – in an official capacity – for more than 20 years, on various committees, as a trustee, as co-chair of the capital campaign for the endowment and building of the Eden School, and as Chair of the Board.

Together with his wife, Nancy, Bob has been extraordinarily generous through his charitable giving as well as through his time and talent. His connection to members of the greater Princeton community helped secure Eden’s place among corporate and individual donors to this day.

All Wall of Honor recipients were nominated by Eden’s Membership, and all three honorees were confirmed with a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees.
