Eden Autism names Christine Simon a 2023 NJACP Star!

Eden Autism is proud to announce that Christine Simon received the 2023 NJACP Stars Award! We celebrated her achievement during NJACP’s virtual event on May 16.

Eden staff presented Christine Simon with the 2023 NJACP Stars Award!

Each year NJACP (New Jersey Association of Community Providers) members nominate an individual with an intellectual and/or developmental disability for a Community Star Award. Individuals are nominated for their ability to overcome obstacles and challenges in their daily lives, and this year we are celebrating Christine’s consistent dedication to her career and local community.

Christine joined the Eden family in 1983 as a student at the Eden School. Upon graduation, she successfully transitioned the Adult Services Day Program and eventually moved into Eden’s Farley House.

Christine has been happily employed at Wawa since joining the day program in 1988! During her shift at Wawa, Christine completes a variety of tasks — including restocking and cleaning — but her favorite part of the job is greeting staff, remembering birthdays, and bringing a smile to those she interacts with.

Recently, Christine missed several weeks of work due to health concerns. During this time, Christine repeatedly asked when she could return to Wawa, demonstrating her love for routine and the job that keeps her happy, busy, and social.

When Christine isn’t at Wawa, she is an active participant at the day center, assisting with lunch prep and some light cleaning. At home, she loves spending time with her four housemates. Whether they are shopping, getting their hair done, or enjoying a meal together, Christine loves engaging with her friends and staff.

Christine continues to develop and reach her goals both personally and professionally. She is an inspiration to all of us at Eden Autism, and we are proud to call her our Star!
